- Carolina Ballet
Carolina Ballet grew out of the vision of former North Carolina General Assembly member and Raleigh lawyer, J. Ward Purrington.
The company selected Robert Weiss, former principal dancer at New York City Ballet, as Artistic Director in April 1997 and Carolina Ballet was founded.
The company premiered in October 1998 and has performed for 20 successful seasons including tours around North Carolina and to New York City, Budapest and China.
The Ballet is celebrating its 20th Anniversary having grown to a company of 38 professional dancers and five dance masters who stage and perform a total of eight programs each season, reaching more than 60,000 individuals annually.
Over 20 seasons, Carolina Ballet has presented more than 1,000 performances to one million audience members and reached more than 100,000 young people through our educational outreach programs.
